Private family interment services will be held at a later date for Michael Lee Shepherd, 66, of Atlanta.

Mr. Shepherd was born in Jacksonville, Fla., on Feb. 9, 1944, and was raised in Bainbridge.

He graduated from Columbia University School of Law in New York in 1978 and began his legal career in Atlanta. In 2000, he focused his time on writing short stories, poems and books on international terrorism.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harry E. Shepherd.

He is survived by his mother, Betsy Shepherd of Bainbridge; his wife, Teresa W. Shepherd of Atlanta; three daughters, Margaret McPherson of Atlanta, Christine Shepherd of Boston, Mass., Catherine Shepherd of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Kathryn Jane Shepherd of Bainbridge; and a brother, David Shepherd of Macon, Ga.

Cox-Ware Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
