Bainbridge running back Dameon Pierce has had a flurry of scholarship offers from Power 5 schools and smaller colleges alike over the past few weeks.
But the sophomore is keeping his mouth shut about which way he might be leaning. Instead, he’s taking it one day at a time, he said.
“I’m just taking it slow and enjoying it,” Pierce said. “Most kids don’t have this opportunity. I’m having a level head about it, talking to coach (Jeff Littleton) and my teammates every day about it.”
Pierce’s offers have risen to 17 and include South Florida, Central Florida, Stanford, South Carolina, Nebraska, N.C. State, Michigan State, Miami, Maryland, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Georgia, Florida, East Carolina, Clemson, Florida State and Auburn.
He rushed for 2,060 yards on 308 carries during the 2015 season, scoring 33 touchdowns and helping lead the Bearcats to a 13-1 season and a Region Championship against rival Cairo Syrupmakers.
“I’m boosted up by my family and teammates and coaches,” Pierce said. “If we didn’t have the season we had, we wouldn’t be getting much credit. I’m working hard every day and just taking it one day at a time.”
Pierce said he was currently arranging plans to attend camps this summer, but nothing is final yet.
Bainbridge kicks off their season against Lee County August 26 at Centennial Field.
