The Southwest Georgia Traffic Network arrested two men for possession of cocaine and marijuana while working several traffic stops around Decatur County Thursday night.
Eugene Rogers Jr and Caiaphius Vankeith Neal, were arrested at the traffic stop at the intersection of Hwy. 309 and Hwy. 241 after Decatur County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Vincent Edmond smelled marijuana through the driver’s side window.
While talking to Rogers, Edmond spotted a straw in the driver’s side door panel he thought was used for ingesting illegal narcotics. Edmonds also ran the driver’s tag and found it had expired in December 2016.
The smell of marijuana from the vehicle led Edmonds to conduct a search of Neal and found more straws containing a powdery white residue. He also found two plastic baggies containing a white powdery residue and one containing a quantity of white powder.
Edmonds searched the vehicle and found a zip lock bag containing a large quanity of marijuana and a plastic bag containing a “round, white ‘cookie’ of suspected crack cocaine,” the incident report said.
Rogers was also placed under arrest and both were transported to the Decatur County Jail.
