Truck catches fire after striking tree

- Firemen work to extinguish the last of the flames after a truck hit a tree and caught on fire on Highway 27 by the Farm Credit building.
A truck ran off the road and crashed into a tree beside Farm Credit on Highway 27 this afternoon.
Police are still investigating the cause of the wreck.
The vehicle caught on fire when it struck the tree. Officials say workers from Farm Credit and the wrecker crew used fire extinguishers to keep the flames down before Bainbridge Public Safety arrived with fire trucks.
The driver was conscious and transported to a hospital via EMS.
