Bobby Washington

Funeral services for Bobby Dean Washington, 57, of Bainbridge, were held Saturday, Oct. 18, at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. John H. Wooden officiating.
Interment followed in Jonas Lobe Cemetery with Louis Freeman, Edgar Bennett, Charles Edwards, Walter Freeman, Larry Brown, Cornell Hamilton, Eric Battle and Darren Washington serving as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were the Class of 1971.
Mr. Washington was born in Bainbridge, Ga., and passed away Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at John D. Archbold Hospital in Thomasville, Ga.
He attended Hutto Elementary and High for 11 years, and was a member of the first integrated graduating class at Bainbridge High School in 1971.
He served in the U.S. Army and was an active member of the National Guard. He was employed at Thomas and Betts for 25 years until the plant closed and was a member of St. Paul M.B. Church.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy P. Washington; four sons, Antoine Gordon of Riverdale, Ga., Bobby Dewayne Washington, Dell Washington and Dominique Morgan, all of Bainbridge; his father, Willie Washington; one daughter, Shameka Kelly of Bainbridge; siblings, Annie Ruth Bennett, Odell Washington, Brenda Betsy, all of Bainbridge, Adell Howard of Union City, Ga., James Washington of Los Angeles, Calif.; four grandchildren and other relatives.
Bruton Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
