Hutto sweeps West Bainbridge

Brandi Anthony grabbed a rebound and put a layup back in off the left glass, just beating the buzzer and giving the Hutto Middle School seventh-grade Lady Tigers a 34-32 victory over the West Bainbridge seventh-grade Lady Eagles, propelling Hutto teams to a Thursday double-header sweep.
It was Anthony’s only two points of the game.
In the nightcap at Hutto’s Bynes-Greenlee Gymnasium, the Tigers defeated the Eagles 38-15. They featured a balanced scoring attack with three men hitting in double figures.
Challed Burns led the way with 11 points, and Deon Thomas and Carlos Hughes scored 10 apiece. Jarvis Kelly scored seven to lead the Eagles.
The Lady Tigers were paced by Dixie Landy with nine points. Tiera Adams added eight, and Kristen Baldwin scored seven.
Rounding out the Lady Tigers’ scoring column Thursday were Taylor Simmons with four, and Megan Phillips, Jasmine Pate and Anthony, all with two.
The seventh-grade Lady Tigers and Tigers, and Lady Eagles and Eagles will all return to action Monday.
The Lady Tigers and Tigers will host the Thomas County Central Middle School seventh-grade Lady Yellow Jackets and Yellow Jackets.
The girls game will begin at 4:30 p.m. and the boys game will follow at 6 p.m.
The Lady Eagles and Eagles will travel to Cairo Monday for games with the Washington Middle School seventh-grade Lady Tigers and Tigers.
