The new therapeutic swimming pool at the Bainbridge-Decatur County YMCA will be very helpful to members who have knee, hip and other medical problems.
That was the feeling expressed by YMCA CEO Ken Bailey following the pool’s opening last Monday, Nov. 17, morning.
“Our new therapeutic pool was made possible by funds raised in our capital campaign, which was headed by Raymond Miles and a generous contribution by the Kirbo Foundation,” Bailey said.
The water in the pool stays between 86 and 88 degrees and is very therapeutic. It can also be used for giving swimming lessons to small children. When the water is warm, they have less fear of the water, Bailey said.
Mrs. Jeanie Whiddon, who has been teaching water aerobics at the YMCA since 1991, says the warm water in the pool is very conducive to loosening muscles.
