On Jan. 16 and 17, Russell Smith and Mike Layard hosted the fifth annual Paul Faircloth Sr. Memorial Disabled Hunt on family property, which was the original Amos Davis Plantation.
A total of 22 disabled hunters were scheduled to attend; however, due to scheduled frigid temperatures, 19 hunters attended. Ten deer were harvested, five bucks and five does. In addition, Russell and Mike harvested six shirt tails.
Mike Layard and I would like to personally thank the following local sponsors. Without their assistance, this hunt would not have been possible: Lake Seminole Spurs NWTF, Godwin’s Jewelers, Ivey Funeral Home, Bainbridge Wal-Mart, Mitchell-Johnson Building Supply, Wingate’s Lunker Lodge, Barber Fertilizer, Flint River Mills (FRM), Cooper’s Heating and Air-Conditioner, Inland Oil, State Farm (Billy Inlow), True Life Creations Taxidermy and Processing, Dairy Queen, Sammy’s Bait and Tackle, Stone’s, Palmer and Sibyl Rich, Pepsi Bottling Group, Southern Trading Company and Pawn Shop, and Advance Auto Parts.
