Joe Mulholland, District Attorney for the South Georgia Circuit, was recently announced to be on the “short list” of candidates for U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Georgia.
After deliberating with his family and members of the community, Mulholland decided to withdraw himself from candidacy and remain at his current position.
“While I was honored to be considered for the position, I made a commitment to the people of South Georgia to serve as their District Attorney this fall and I intend on honoring that commitment,” said Mulholland. “As Barbara and I hope to raise a family in the very near future, I cannot imagine a better community to raise them in. Raising children in South Georgia has worked for my family for the last several generations, and I know it will also work for our children.”
As there is no Democratic U.S. Senator in the State of Georgia, a committee formed by the Democratic Congressional Congress recently selected nominees to be sent to President Obama for his selection.
