Bainbridge Public Safety firefighters responded to a house fire that occurred at 609 E. Pine St. shortly after 9 a.m. Tuesday. The home was vacant although neighbors said residents were living in the home in weeks prior. BPS Fire Chief Dennis Mock said it is believed that the fire began at the rear of the home, and the fire is under investigation by BPS investigators to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Firefighters had the blaze under control within 15 to 20 minutes. They were again called to the home at around 1 p.m. when the fire rekindled and began smoking.
