The devil’s design

“Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field” (Genesis 3:1).
Eve knew she was not to eat of the fruit nor to touch it (Genesis 3:3).
The Devil with a few smooth words and ending them that she would receive a benefit by eating thereof (Genesis 3:5).
The two sons of Aaron, Nadab and Abihu did not take God’s ordinances seriously. They were church leaders, and God devoured them by fire (Leviticus 10:2).
We find David was bringing the Ark of God back to Jerusalem when Uzzah was struck dead for touching the Ark. His offense seems very small. He felt the Ark was in danger of being turned over. We have reason to think it was a very good intention. Yet this was a crime, Uzzah was a Levite, but only priests might touch the Ark. Though they were to carry the Ark by the staves, yet they must not touch any holy thing, lest they die (Numbers 4:15).
It is in the devil’s design to destroy God’s plan for man. The devil has to work through man to be able to accomplish this. God has established and written a plan for man, we can see from the foregoing examples that God is very serious about his plan for man to follow. He said “a highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called the way of holiness, the unclean shall not pass over it, but it shall be for those, the wayfaring, men, though fools, shall not err therein.”
Jeremiah told the Lord saying, “Oh Lord, I know that the way of man is not in himself. It is not in man that walketh to direct his steps.”
We are admonished in the word of God to “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2nd Timothy 2:15). The Word of God (The Bible) has one theme that’s Jesus. There were some 44 writers through centuries with a perfect harmony of doctrine, containing 66 books making up one book in six groups. (1) Preparation the Old Testament, (2) Manifestation of the gospels, (3) Propagation, Acts (4) Explanation, Epistles (5,) Consummation and (6) Apocalypse.
“Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away. But the word of the Lord endureth forever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.” (1st Peter 1:23-25).
“If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?” (Psalms 11:3). We might ask ourselves the question. Wouldn’t the devil want to deceive man concerning God’s plan of salvation?
We know the Bible is man’s road map to heaven. So if the devil could change the course of that map he would accomplish a lot to the unaware person.
John wrote in the book of Revelation, “For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book. If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book, and if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his pat out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book” (Revelations 22:18-19).
Jesus after he arose from the tomb, he was with his disciples 40 days until the day he was taken up. They were all assembled together when he told them to “wait for the promise of the father, which ye have heard of me.”
“For John truly baptized with water, but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence” (Acts 1:4-5).
The disciples followed his instruction in the second chapter of Acts. The disciples always baptized their converts in the name of Jesus. Nowhere in the Bible was anyone baptized using the formula “In the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost” again I say nowhere.
Does it make any difference?
“Whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him” (Colossians 3:16-17).
The Apostle Paul said, “One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism” (Ephesians 4:5). Paul also asked the question to some believers “how they were baptized?” They said unto John’s baptism. Paul let them know they must be baptized in Jesus name (Acts 19:5).
It’s the devil’s design to get us off the path that Jesus gave his life for. He did the same thing to Eve in the garden. It took the devil 300 years after Jesus was crucified to mislead mankind. Remember Jesus told Nicodemus he must be born again of water and of the spirit (St. John 3:5).
The Apostle Peter in Acts 2:38 gave us the instructions. Those were followed until 325 A.D. when the Catholic Church introduced the new formula (Matthew 28:19). The map Jesus laid out for you and I was changed. It was the devil’s design.
“For the word of God is quick and powerful and shaper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of the soul and spirit and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart ” (Hebrews 4:12).
Again Paul said, “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears and they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables” (2nd Timothy 4:3-4).
Jesus said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments” (St. John 14:15).
If we ever expect to make heaven our home we must love and obey his word. There are no short cuts for anyone to get there, everyone must travel that highway of holiness (Isaiah 35:8).
