Patrick Sammon III

Funeral services for Patrick F. Sammon III, 83, of Colquitt, Ga., and Panama City, Fla., will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 20, at 11 a.m. at Colquitt Funeral Home in Colquitt, Ga.
Interment will follow in the Colquitt City Cemetery with John McGoogan, Joe Johnson, Scot Roberts, Mark Miller, Robert Wilkin, Edwin Wilkin and Ronnie Rentz serving as active pallbearers.
Born Feb. 15, 1926, in New York, N.Y., Mr. Sammon died on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, at Gulf Coast Medical Center in Panama City, Fla., following a brief illness.
Mr. Sammon settled in Colquitt in 1949 after marrying Dorothy Sheffield, who he had met while serving in the Air Force at Turner Field in Albany. Mr. Sammon was an active member of the community. He was the owner of Pat Sammon Chevrolet for 37 years. In addition, Mr. Sammon owned an insurance and real estate business. He was an avid flyer and collector of flying memorabilia. He enjoyed sailing and golf. Mr. Sammon was a member of the Colquitt United Methodist Church and the Masons.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Sheffield Sammon of Colquitt; two daughters, Jan McGoogan and Stacey Johnson, both of Atlanta, Ga.; a son, Patrick Sammon of Colquitt; a sister, Eleanor Sammon Ryan of Hollywood, Fla.; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Colquitt Funeral Home in Colquitt, Ga., is in charge of arrangements.
