Cats divide games with Central, Seminole

Coach Heith Maxwell’s Bainbridge Middle School eighth-grade Bearcats divided a pair of Tuesday and Thursday basketball games at the Decatur County Memorial Coliseum.
On Tuesday, the Bearcats, who are 6-2 on the season, dropped a 54-46 decision to the Thomas County Central Middle School eighth-grade Yellow Jackets. On Thursday, they defeated the Seminole County Middle School eighth-grade Indians 39-29.
The Bearcats, who are 6-2 on the season, featured balanced scoring efforts in both games.
On Tuesday, point guard Mike Jones led the way against the Yellow Jackets, pumping in 19 points. Six other players also contributed to the scoring effort.
Rounding out the scoring chart for the Bearcats on Tuesday were forward T.J. Webb with 8, forward Willie Beard with 7, center Dominique Douglas with 5, point guard Jarvis Kelly with 3 and guard Tavarous Bowman and forward Devontae Holly with 2 apiece.
Webb and Stephen Johnson combined for 24 points to lead the Bearcats over the Indians on Thursday. Webb led the way with 14 and Johnson pumped in 10.
Jones contributed 7, Bowman put in 6, and guard Brent Nobel scored 2. Robert Speight was high for the Indians with 11.
The Bearcats will conclude their season Monday when they travel to Thomas County for a rematch with the Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets.
