Graveside memorial services for Major Carroll Mills, 85, of Atlanta, Ga., were held Thursday, Feb. 11, at Oak City Cemetery with the Rev. Stephen Webb officiating.
Memorial services were also held Wednesday, Feb. 10, at Brighton Gardens in Atlanta.
Born Oct. 25, 1924, in Ozark, Ala., Dr. Mills died on Feb. 7, 2010, surrounded by his family.
Dr. Mills graduated from Carroll High School in Ozark, The University of Alabama, and Emory Dental School. While attending school in Atlanta, he met and fell in love with his future wife, the former Betty Jane Wilkinson of Bainbridge. After marriage they returned to his hometown of Ozark, where he practiced dentistry for almost 40 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and two sons, Joseph Chason Mills and William Major Mills.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Betty Wilkinson Mills of Atlanta; one son, James Wilkinson Mills of Atlanta; a brother, Oscar Mills of North Carolina; two grandsons and one daughter-in-law.
Cox-Ware Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
