BHS golfers were good hosts

The Jones County High School Greyhounds and Thomas County Central High School Lady Yellow Jackets are 2010 Region 1-AAAA golf champions.
The host of the tournament, played at Bainbridge Country Club, was Bainbridge High School Bearcats and Lady Cats golf coach Tom Wheeler.
The Greyhounds shot a round of 307 Monday and the Lady Yellow Jackets shot a round of 352 Tuesday.
The Greyhounds’ Kelvin McElroy and the Christy Liggins of the second place Lee County High School Lady Trojans, who shot 369, were low medalists with rounds of 74.
The Thomas County Central High School Yellow Jackets were second Monday with a round of 327.
The first and second place teams will advance to the State Class AAAA Tournament Monday, May 3 at Jekyll Island Resort.
The second place Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets shot 327 and the second place Lee County Lady Trojans shot 369.
Central’s Yellow Jackets were led by Nelson Ramey with a round of 79. He was followed by Madison Kinard and Josh Yates with rounds of 82 and Jordan Cooksey with a round of 84.
The Bearcats and Lady Cats were fourth in both tournaments. The Bearcats’ low medalist was Tanner Walker with an 84 and the Lady Cats’ low was Nicole Putnal with a103.
