BC prof speaks at Switzerland conference

Marina von Hirsch, a member of the Bainbridge College faculty in the Arts and Sciences Division, presented an academic paper at the Hemingway Society Conference in Lausanne, Switzerland. Her well-received paper, “A Glimpse of Freedom: Hemingway and the Soviet Intellectuals of the Sixties,” was accepted for publication in the proceedings of the conference. “(This) is a great honor for me,” said von Hirsch, who spoke at the 14th Biennial Hemingway Society Conference that took place June 25-July 3. The recipient of the Bainbridge College Foundation Faculty Enrichment Award, she is an associate professor of English and humanities and has taught at BC since 2005. She earned her doctorate of philosophy in humanities from Florida State University with an emphasis on comparative literature. She focused her doctoral work on 20th century Russian and English literature.
