A funeral service for Amos Arnold Jones, 79, of Climax, was held Sunday, Feb. 27, at 3 p.m. at Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Thad Marshall officiating.

Interment followed at Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery with Jerry Jones, Randall Jones, Sammy Perkins, Donald Dalton, Kyle Guderian, Anthony Jones, Chester Brewer and Cathy Brewer serving as active pallbearers.

Memorial Donations may be made to Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church Building Fund or Cemetery Fund, c\o Randall Jones, 4214 Thomasville Road, Climax, GA 39834.

Born Jan. 20, 1932, in Climax, Mr. Jones died Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, at his residence.

Mr. Jones was the son of Harvey Lewis Jones and Mamie Ulmer Jones. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He was a farmer and a bus driver. He was a member of Pisgah Primitive Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold Jones and Lewis Jones; and his sisters, Margaret J. Smith and Christine J. Taylor.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Esther Jones of Climax; his sons, Dennis Jones, Ricky Jones and Derrick Jones, all of Climax, and Leonard Jones of Athens, Ga.; his daughters, Dollye Brewer Stroup and her husband, Richard, of Climax, Peggy Jones Guderian and her husband, Lance, of Hamilton, Ga., Lisa Jones and her partner, Kristi Birschbach, of Tallahassee, Fla., and Bonnie Jones of Nova Scotia, Canada; his sisters, Annie Mae Perkins of Whigham, Ga., Dorothy Dalton of Calvary, Ga., and Sara Mauldin of Brunswick, Ga.; his eight grandchildren, Adam, Bill, Chester, Brandy, Cathy, Anthony, Kyle and Jessie; and his five great-grandchildren, Brantley, Grace Ann, Lawren, Charlie and Emily.

Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
