A Decatur County woman reported being shot at her home Wednesday afternoon, according to the Sheriff’s Office and E-911 communications.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence on Riverfront Road, off Georgia 253 North in the Flint River Heights neighborhood, at about 12:40 p.m. Wednesday.

According to Undersheriff Wendell Cofer, the woman called her husband to report she had been shot. Deputies canvassed the area around the neighborhood and continue to investigate the circumstances of the shooting, Cofer said.

According to Cofer, the victim was taken by ambulance to Memorial Hospital in Bainbridge and was later transferred to a hospital in Tallahassee, Fla.
