Graveside services for Mary Ruth Mills Carr, 70, will be held Thursday, May 5, at 10 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Cairo with the Rev. Keith Pearson officiating.

The family will receive friends at 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, at Cox-Ware Funeral Home in Bainbridge.

Mrs. Carr was born Jan. 23, 1941, in Cairo, Ga., to the Rev. Alonzo May and Mary Ann Brown Spivey. She died Monday, May 2, 2011, at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville. She was married to Robert R. Carr, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include her children, Jerry Randall Mills of Dothan, Ala., Rena Mills Cosby of Abbeville, Ala., Marie Mills Perkins and Doris Mills Carmichael, both of Bainbridge, Charlie W. Mills of Cairo, Mary Mills Sherrer of Bainbridge, Patricia Mills Lewis of Lake City, Fla., Daniel Mills of Bainbridge, and Charlotte Mills Welch of Climax, Ga.; two brothers: Albert William Spivey of Tallahassee, Fla., and Earnest Spivey of Thomasville; 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Carr was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. She was a true patriot and supporter of all things military. Mary Ruth was a true “Southern Belle.”
