A cook out fund-raiser was held for accident victim Heather “Nicki” Strickland at Parker Park in Climax on May 21.
Nicki, who lives on Allen Phillips Road near Climax, was involved in an automobile accident on College Road in Bainbridge on April 22. As an apparent result of the accident, her niece, Audrey Finuff, recently passed away. However, Nicki is slowly recovering from her injuries, according to family members.
The 27-year-old is the single mother of a 7-year-old son, and is now unable to work due to her injuries, and has no income. She has had two back surgeries as a result of the accident and is scheduled to have eye surgery as well. She will also have to take physical and occupational therapy. According to the family, she is having some amnesia problems.
Friends, Kim and Matthew McBroom of Whigham, along with Theresa Green of Climax, have opened a special donation account at Capital City Bank in Cairo for help with medical expenses.
Last Saturday there were barbecue plates, hamburgers and hot dogs available for a donation to help with Nicki’s expenses. To make a donation one may contact Kim or Matthew McBroom at (229) 762-3278 at 400 Trinity Road, Whigham, GA 39897

Contact person for the drawing is Debby Cone Miller at (229) 400-1420. Flyers and donation boxes are also being placed through out the area to help.
