Funeral services for Inez Glisson Cook, 81, of Pansey, Ala., who died June 24, 2011, at Extendicare Health and Rehab Center in Dothan, Ala., were held Sunday, June 26, at Springhill Baptist Church in Gordon, Ala.
Burial followed in the church cemetery with Tommy Whitehead, Tim Harper, Gary Sumlar, Steven Moore, Danny Hicks and Eugene Odom acting as pallbearers.
Mrs. Cook was born Sept. 23, 1929, to the late John Andrew Glisson and Annie Bell Bullock Glisson. She lived all of her life in the Gordon and Pansey area. She worked for Wiregrass Electric Cooperative for 39 years before retiring.
She was married to Collie Cook for 54 years before his passing on Jan. 2, 2011. The joys of her life were her two great grandchildren, Shelby Laine Sumlar and Xander Sumlar.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers, Alto Glisson, Jim Glisson, Randolph “Ran” Glisson and Curtis Glisson; two sisters, Lottie Jordan and Via Walker.
Mrs. Cook is survived by her daughter, Cathy of Pansey; one sister, Ruth Blocker of Phenix City, Ala., two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Evans-Skipper Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
