Namion Edwards

Funeral services for Namion Edwards, 87, of Bainbridge, were held July 9 at Emanuel Missionary Baptist Church in the Fowlstown community with the Revs. John Thomas and Douglas Smith officiating.

Interment followed in the church’s cemetery with Derick Edwards, Rufus Pearson, Willie Bell, Clifford Shelton, Greg Jackson and Chris Wright serving as active pallbearers.

Brother Edwards was a life-long resident of Bainbridge. He was married to the late Agnes Edwards. He was a member of Emanuel Missionary Baptist Church of Fowlstown. Mr. Edwards worked on various types of jobs, and he was an animal lover like his brothers and to pass time, he loved to play his guitar.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Agnes Edwards; two daughters, Annie M. Edwards and Georgia M. Gibson; his brothers, Raymond Lee, Only, Nathan and Bobby; his sisters, Georgia M., Thelma and Doris; and a grandson, Terry.

Survivors include his son, Rufus Edwards and his wife, Gwen, of Flint, Mich.; his daughters, Jeanette Pearson and her husband, Ben, of Zellwood, Fla., Mary Simon of Orlando, Fla., Ruby Harris and her husband, Carlton, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Virginia Edwards and Brenda Harris and her fiance, Calvin Kendrick, of Bainbridge, Ga.; his brother, James; his sisters, Breatha, Rosa and Perry Mae of Michigan; as well as 24 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.

Bruton Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
