Memorial services for Glenda Jean Herndon, 67, of Rome, G., were conducted Tuesday, Sept. 6 at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Rome, Ga., with Dr. Dale Levan officiating.
Born November 29, 1943 in Bainbridge, Mrs. Herndon passed away Friday afternoon Sept. 2, 2011 at her residence following an extended illness.
A native of Bainbridge, Mrs. Herndon was the daughter of the late Kenneth Croley and Cutis Newberry Croley. She was a graduate of West Bainbridge High School and had been a resident of Rome since 1973. Mrs. Herndon was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and had been employed at Alto Park and Garden Lakes Elementary Schools. She will be remembered as a fantastic wife, mother, and grandmother. The family would like to thank all caretakers, friends, neighbors, Redmond Regional Medical Center and Dr. Joseph Herren and his wonderful staff.
Mrs. Herndon is survived by her faithful husband and caregiver J. W. Herndon, to whom she was married May 18, 1962; two sons and daughters-in-law Richard Allen and Kristen Herndon and Mark Wayne and Shannon Herndon; Four grandchildren Mitchell, Alex, Mark, and Mackenzie Herndon; brother Kenneth Croley and sister Kathy Thompson. Her three furry dog companions Precious, Spot and Sonny also miss her greatly.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made to the Fellowship Baptist Church Building Fund, 314 Burnett Ferry Road, Rome GA 30161.
Parnick Jennings Sr.’s Good Shepherd Funeral Home in Rome was in charge of the arrangements.
