Swine Time quilt is ready again

In Climax, you know fall is almost here when the ladies of the Sew and Sew quilting club make the statement, “The Swine Time Quilt is ready.”
Marge Jones, Fannie Wells, Lois Fletcher Stuckey, and Ruth Betts work hard every year to piece together and hand stitch an all-hand-made quilt just for the festival.
This year the quilt’s theme is the Georgia Bulldogs football team, with red, white and black and squares of helmets and footballs, and the big “G.”
The ladies said they decided to do something this year for the sports fans. Some die hard Seminole or Gator fans may have a hard time accepting this, but who knows, the next one may be a Seminole or Gator quilt — don’t give up on these ladies.
There will be a drawing for this quilt on Saturday after Thanksgiving at Swine Time. For more information about the Swine Time quilt, call Fannie Wells at (229) 246-0910 or Marge Jones at (229) 246-1050.
Members of the Climax Community Club work year round on the Swine Time Festival, which is held the Saturday after Thanksgiving in November. Planning for the 2011 festival began in February and continues until Swine Time day.
Members seek to furnish 3 precincts
This year the members of the Climax Community Club are seeking items to furnish the three historic precinct buildings that sit on the Swine Time grounds. One will be a court house, one a school house, and one a voting precinct. If citizens would like to donate any items of this time period, or have anything they would like to share, please call Reba Rehberg at (229) 246-3747 or Louise Williamson at (229) 243-7511.
