The funeral service for Pauline Spooner Smith, 85, of Bainbridge, was held on Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Milton Harrison officiating. Interment followed at Cool Springs Cemetery with Stacy Roberts, Dean Roberts, Brian Donalson, David Cottles, David Grubbs and Kent Bush serving as active pallbearers.
Mrs. Smith was born June 18, 1926, in Attapulgus, the daughter of James Harrison Spooner and Sadie Marie Mitchell Spooner. She died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, at her residence. She was a homemaker and member of West Street Baptist Church.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Elton “Buddy” Smith, and her granddaughter, Deana Ann Ashley.
Survivors include her son, Eugene Smith of Macon; her daughters, Marie S. Donalson of Bainbridge, Martha Ann Ashley and her husband, Larry, of Simpsonville, S.C., and Joann S. Perry and her husband, Walter, of Vidalia, Ga.; her brother, Jesse Spooner of Bainbridge; her sister, Mary Phillips of Hoschton, Ga.; her grandchildren, Brian Donalson, Stacy Roberts, Lisa Schilling, Daniel Ashley, and Dean Roberts; and her eight great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southwest Georgia, 1323 E. Shotwell St., Bainbridge, GA 39819.
Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
