Funeral Services for Garland Benjamin Layton,  54, of Tallahassee, Fla., will be held Thursday, Oct. 27 at 11 a.m. at Beggs Funeral Home, Apalachee Chapel, with by Pastor Clyde Billingsley officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Lawn Memory Gardens in Bainbridge. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Garland Benjamin Layton, 54, was surrounded by family when he went to be with our lord, Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011 in Tallahassee, Fl. Garland was a native of Bainbridge and graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1975. He was retired from WFSU as an accountant and a past member of Tallahassee Elks Lodge No. 937. He was an avid Atlanta Falcon and Florida State fan. He loved his trips to Biloxi, Miss., and poker.

Garland was preceded in death by his father, Garland N. Layton.

Garland is survived by his wife, Linda Trotter Layton; two sons, Benjamin Zane Layton and Garland Ryan Layton both of Tallahassee; three step-daughters, Trayce Shimansky of Baker, Fla., Marci Beane (Travis) of Woodville, Fla., and Lindsey Shimansky of Tallahassee; his mother, Ruth “Sowell” Darley of Vidalia, Ga.; his brother, John Cox (Kellie) of Vidalia; two sisters, June Dickerson of Vidalia, Bonnie Collier (Jerry Bud) of Manchester, Ga.; four grandchildren, Kaliegh Layton, Aubrey (Buddah) Jackson, Ryan Layton, and Hunter Beane; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; and long-time friend, Tommy Norris of Atlanta, Ga., the M.T. Gang; and his dog Kobie.

Beggs Funeral Home in Tallahassee is in charge of the arrangements.
