The funeral service for Jesse Spooner, 90, of Bainbridge, will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stanley Phillips officiating, and will conclude at the chapel. Interment will be at Cool Springs Cemetery. Brad Kelley, Blake Kelley, Zane Allen, Tyler Allen, Jerry Phillips and David Phillips will serve as active pallbearers. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Mr. Spooner was born Jan. 17, 1921, in Attapulgus, the son of James Spooner and Sadie Mitchell Spooner. He died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at his residence.
He graduated from Attapulgus High School, Class of 1940, and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a farmer and a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Mr. Spooner was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Barber Spooner.
Survivors include his sister, Mary Phillips of Winder, Ga.; and his many nieces and nephews.
