The Bainbridge High School football players, marching band and cheerleaders plan to host a pep rally for students and fans prior to the Bearcats’ first playoff game.
The pep rally will take place Thursday, Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. on the BHS campus, located off U.S. 84 East. The fire will be set in the area behind the marching band’s practice field, within a dry drainage pond. The fire, will be approximately 16 feet by 16 feet in size and burn for about 45 minutes to an hour.
The BHS cheerleaders will lead the crowd in cheers from atop a portable stage and there will be lighting and sound systems hooked up to get spectators pumped up.
The BHS cheerleading boosters have made safety a top priority for the bonfire. The fire site has been prepared by a Georgia Forestry ranger and the fire itself will be lit and supervised by Bainbridge Public Safety on Thursday evening.
Spectators will be able to park in the lighted parking lot next to the BHS gym. In addition to Public Safety officers, school resource officers will also be on hand to ensure the event’s safety.
On Friday, the Bearcats will travel to Waycross, Ga., to play the Ware County Gators in the first round of the Georgia Class AAAA state football playoffs.
