Mr. William Murphy, 85, of Fayetteville, Ga., passed away on Sunday, Dec. 18, 2011.

Mr. Murphy was born in Bainbridge on July 31, 1926, to the late William Cornelius Murphy and the late Ethel Cherry Murphy. He was preceded in death by his wife Frances B. Murphy. Mr. Murphy was a veteran of the United States Merchant Marines and retired from Northwest Air Lines. Mr. Murphy was a member of Open Range Church of Henry County.

Mr. Murphy is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Linda Gail and Scott Gilbert of Sandy Springs, Ga., Brenda Lee and Pete Wacker of Monroe, Ga., and Becky Lynn and Herb Fairman of Corral Springs, Fla.; son and daughter-in-law, William and Fran Murphy of McDonough, Ga.; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. William Murphy will be conducted on Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Open Range Church, 500 Pullin Road, McDonough, Ga. Dan Hoffman will officiate. Interment will follow in Camp Memorial Cemetery in Fayetteville.

Conner-Westbury Funeral Home, 1891 West McIntosh Road, Griffin, Ga., is in charge of arrangements.
