Bainbridge High School Bearcats sophomore kicker Daniel Provence turned in a strong effort last Saturday at the Brandon Kornblue kicking camp at Florida International University in Miami, Fla.

Kornblue, who kicked for the University of Michigan from 1997 through 1999, has a kicking academy in Boca Raton, Fla.

Provence, the son of Dan and Bonnie Provence, finished third in his age division, which included 16 kickers.

He would have made the finals if two of his kicks were not just wide. He was kicking to college goal posts, which are 18 feet, 6 inches across, as opposed to high school goal posts, which are 23 feet, 8 inches.

All of his kickoffs reached the end zone and had a lot of hang time, his father said.
