The funeral service for Seaborn R. Poitevint, 83, of Bainbridge, will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, at Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Kelley officiating. Interment will follow at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery with his grandsons serving as active pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at Ivey Funeral Home.
Mr. Poitevint was born Dec. 8, 1928, in Decatur County, the son of Eddie Stanza Poitevint and Myrtle Barber Poitevint. He died Monday, Dec. 26, 2011, at Memorial Manor. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1946 and was a retired postal clerk and farmer. He was a deacon of Bethany Baptist Church and was one of the founders of Bainbridge Christian School.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Helen McDaniel Poitevint of Bainbridge; his son, Craig Poitevint and his wife, Martha, of Taylors, S.C.; his daughters, Teresa P. Kelley and her husband, Greg, of Sachse, Texas and Karen P. Baisden and her husband, Lee, of Tallahassee, Fla.; his sister, Virginia Nelson, of Concord, N.H.; his grandchildren, Jonathan Poitevint, Rachel Burrow, Michael Kelley, Andrew Baisden, and Ryan Baisden; and his great-grandchildren, Canaan Poitevint, Lena Poitevint, Taylor Poitevint, Landon Poitevint, Leona Burrow and Ali Burrow.
