Calling all Climax High School alumni (this means anyone who has ever attended school in Climax, whether you graduated or not. Some may have moved before graduating.)
A reunion of all alumni will be held April 14, at the Climax Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, located at the intersection of Lee and Drain Streets in Climax, beginning at 11 a.m. with lunch being served at noon.
The meal will be catered this year by Southern Catering, a business started by one of our own, Gloria Dennard Scarbrough, Class of 1962, and now owned and operated by her daughter Dwala Scarbrough Harrell. Cost will be $13 per person.
Wayne Dollar, Class of 1950, will serve as master of ceremonies and Marlene Cloud Free, Class of 1957, along with Butch Mosely, Class of 1960, will provide the entertainment with an interesting review (slide show) of events through the years at Climax School and the town of Climax.
The following is the Climax School Alma Mater:
“Through the years our Alma Mater,
Ever true will be,
Let our hearts and memories wonder,
Til eternity.
Let our friends and classmates cherish,
Days and years gone by
Hail to thee our Alma Mata,
Hail to thee all hail.
On campus through the arches,
Memories grow each day,
Hail to thee our Alma Mater,
Hail to Climax High!”
Please let the reunion chairperson Mildred McNair, Class of 1946, know by April 2 how many will be attending. Please remit payment for the meal to “Climax High School Reunion” at 3360 Lake Douglas Road, Climax, GA 39834. For more information, you may call Mildred at (229) 246-0843 or email her at mildred0117@bellsouth.net.
