Anderson was driving a 1984 Chevrolet pickup truck north on Georgia 97, also known as Vada Road. At the same time, 37-year-old Shadrick Eric Williams of Camilla, Ga., was driving a semi-trailer truck southbound on the highway.

As the two vehicles approached each other, Anderson’s pickup crossed the road’s center line, traveling into the southbound lane.

Williams drove off the highway’s west shoulder, attempting to avoid a collision with Anderson’s pickup. However, Anderson’s pickup side-swiped the trailer until it made contact with the rear axle. The pickup then accelerated into the west ditch, where it came to a rest.

Anderson was not wearing his seat belt, and his truck was not equipped with an air bag, according to the accident report. Williams was not injured.

Neither driver was suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs, according to the State Patrol. The weather was clear and the roadway was dry at the time of the accident.
