Some Decatur County voters will be able to vote in runoff elections for two races, in the upcoming Tuesday election.

One race is for the Decatur County Board of Education, District 3, between incumbent Winston Rollins and challenger George Washington Jr. Also on the ballot is a runoff for U.S. House of Representatives, 2nd District, Republican candidates Rick Allen and John House, who are vying to face Democratic incumbent Rep. Sanford Bishop in the November general election.

Decatur County citizens who voted on the Democratic ballot in the July 31 general primary election are ineligible to vote in the Republican runoff race Tuesday, according to Doris White, chief election official for the Decatur County Board of Elections.

Those who can vote in the Republican runoff are those who voted Republican on July 31, voted non-partisan on July 31, or did not vote at all on July 31.

All eligible District 3 voters can vote in the school board race, which is non-partisan. If a District 3 citizen voted on the Democratic ballot on July 31, they must request a non-partisan ballot Tuesday, in order to vote in the school board race.

There is no Democratic ballot available for Tuesday’s election, because that party has no races that required a runoff.

The polls open Tuesday at 7 a.m., in all precincts, and will close at 7 p.m.
