Harris 8th in Perry meet

Coach Lisa Enfinger’s Bainbridge High School Bearcats and Lady Cats cross-country teams opened their season at Saturday’s Midstate Classic, in Perry, Ga.
The Bearcats finished seventh and the Lady Cats finished 10th in the 15-team fields.
The top two Bearcats finishers were Chase Harris and Jevante Ross and the top two Lady Cats finishers were sisters, Amber Braswell and Paige Braswell.
The top 15 finishers in the boys’ and girls’ divisions received medals.
Harris was eighth overall, completing the 5,000-meter (3.1-mile) course in a time of 17 minutes, 44.03 seconds.
Ross was 15th overall, with a time of 18:35.59.
In the girls’ competition, Amber Braswell was 11th, with a time of 22:18.50, and Paige Braswell was 14th, with a time of 22:29.09.
Enfinger said she was very pleased with her runners’ performances in Perry.
“For our first meet, I thought we did really well,” she said. “The young men and young ladies are getting their practice running in, and I look for their times to improve even more in the future.”
The teams will have this weekend off and will return to action Saturday, Sept. 8, when they travel to Leesburg, Ga., to compete in the Lee County High School Trojans and Lady Trojans Invitational Meet.
They will host an invitational meet Saturday, Sept. 22, on the Bainbridge High School campus.
