Mr. Sam McKinney Jackson, 85, of Climax, passed away Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at his residence.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. David Grubbs officiating.
Graveside Masonic Rites will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery, with Graydon Bobo, Carl Sapp, Wendell Nix, Jacky Grubbs, Tim Sizemore, Benny Brookins, David Lynn, Ricky Cook and Robbie Fewell serving as active pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday, prior to the funeral service at Ivey Funeral Home.
Memorial donations may be made to the Masonic Home of Georgia, 1417 Nottingham Dr., Macon, GA 31211 or Hospice of Southwest Georgia, 1323 E. Shotwell St., Bainbridge, GA 39819.
Mr. Jackson was born June 13, 1927, in Blountstown, Fla., the son of Grady L. Jackson and Zeathie Lee Clayton Jackson. He was a graduate of Climax High School, Class of 1944, he served in the United States Army, and was a truck driver for Air Products and Chemicals for many years. Mr. Jackson was a member of Pine Forest Baptist Church, the Orion Lodge # 8 F.&A.M., and the Hasan Shrine Temple.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Martha Blanche Mitchell Jackson of Climax; his sons, Harold Jackson and his wife, Susan, of Camilla, and Edwin Jackson and his wife, Melanie, of McDonough, Ga.; his daughters, Beverly Read and her husband, Don, of Lexington Park, Md., and Peggy Taff and her husband, Scott, of Crawfordville, Fla.; his sister, Jean Chisson of Dupo, Ill.; his grandchildren, Chris Marchant, Jennifer Marchant, Harold Jackson, Jr., Kayla Taff, Baylee Taff, and Scott Taff Jr.; his great-grandchildren, Cadence Marchant, and Spencer Marchant; and his special caregivers, Runell Crapp and Ricky Cook.
Ivey Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
