Mrs. Bonnie Jean Whigham Shoemaker, 90, passed away early Tuesday morning, Sept. 25, in Tallahassee, Florida.
Services for Mrs. Shoemaker will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at Union Springs Baptist Church in Whigham. Rev. Steve Poppell will be officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, with Bryan Shoemaker, Lee Shoemaker, Jimmy Glover, Dennis Poppell, Tommy Miller, and Jeff Brinson serving as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service, beginning at 10 a.m., at the church.
Bonnie Jean Whigham was born Nov. 21, 1921 to Marvin Preston Whigham and Ora Paul Maxwell Whigham. Bonnie Jean was the oldest child, with two sisters, Jeanette (deceased) and Anita. She married Eddie Shoemaker, Sr., when he returned home after WWII, and they remained married until his death on Oct. 31, 1993. She was a life member of Union Springs Baptist Church in Whigham.
Bonnie Shoemaker is survived by her sons, Eddie Shoemaker, Jr. and John Marvin Shoemaker (Patricia); grandchildren, Brian Shoemaker, Kellie Moody (Jon), Kimberly Foster (Robert), Lee Shoemaker, and great-granddaughter, Marin Leigh Foster, all of Tallahassee; sister, Anita Whigham Poppell of Whigham; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Union Springs Baptist Church in her honor. The address is 355 Union Springs Road, Whigham, GA 31797.
