Lady Cougars down Lady Warriors

Coach Erwin Harrell’s Grace Christian Academy Lady Cougars volleyball team downed the Emmanuel Christian School Lady Warriors, from Dothan, Ala., three sets to two Monday at Perry Memorial Gymnasium.
The win improved the Lady Cougars’ overall record to 8-5, They are 1-1 in Panhandle Christian Conference play.
The Lady Cougars won the first and second sets 25-22, dropped the third and fourth sets 25-16 and 25-22 and won the fifth set 16-14.
“It wasn’t pretty, but we got the win,” Harrell said, following the game. “The ladies fought hard to take that fifth set.”
Melissa Mills had 16 kills and 10 ace serves for the Lady Cougars, and Emilee Murr had six kills. Merrianna Parker had 28 assists and a 94-percent serve percentage. Kedi Castoro had 13 digs and a 94-percent serve percentage and Sarah Castoro had 10 digs.
The Lady Cougars returned to action Friday when they played LaFayette Christian Academy, in LaGrange, Ga.
The middle-school and varsity Lady Cougars will play Ashford Academy’s middle-school and varsity Lady Falcons on Tuesday, in Ashford, Ala. The middle-school game will begin at 5 p.m., and the varsity game will begin at 6 p.m.
