BHS cross-country teams compete at state Sat.

The Region 1-AAAAA champion Bainbridge High School Bearcats and Region 1-AAAAA third-place-finishing Lady Cats will be competing today in the state Class AAAAA meet, in Carrollton, Ga.
The Bearcats and Lady Cats are coached by head coach Lisa Enfinger and community coach Greg Waddell.
At last Saturday’s Region 1-AAAAA meet in Columbus, Ga., the Bearcats were led by Chase Harris, who was second overall, completing the 5,000-meter (3.1-mile) course in a time of 17:02.
Other Bearcats turning in strong efforts included Tae Ross, who was sixth in a time of 18 minutes, 19 seconds, Brad Cox, who was eighth in a time of 18:42, and Bennett Enfinger, who was 10th in a time of 19:15.
Other strong Bearcats times were turned in by Brenden Greene with a 19:28, Perry Waddell with a 19:50 and Hunter Savage with a 20:21.
The Lady Cats were led at the region meet by Paige Braswell and Amber Braswell, who finished second and fourth overall, respectively, in times of 20:59 and 21:43.
Other strong Lady Cats finishers were Caitlin Cato with a time of 24:26, Rebecca Conner with a time of 24:50, Jordan Graham with a time of 27:34 and Erin Chaplin with a time of 31:05.
