Lady Cougars cruise past SGA

The Grace Lady Cougars led 30-2 at halftime and cruised from there, defeating Southwest Georgia Academy at Perry Gymnasium in Bainbridge on Monday night, by the score of 49-22.
Shellby Woodrum led Grace (4-2) with 12 points, Jasmin Kelly added 11, and Emilee Murr and Kelsey Harrell each scored nine points. Lindsey Duke scored six points, and Kaitlyn Holcombe added two points off the bench.
“[SGA] is a better team than the score showed tonight,” head coach Steve Murr said. “I told our team, they are well-coached and have the ability to make a run at any time. We were able to hold them off and get to see some younger players get some playing time.”
Jessie Oliver led SGA with seven points.
Grace falls in Byne Tourney title game
Friday night, Grace advanced to the championship game of the Byne Tournament on Saturday, defeating Byne 38-32. On Saturday, the Lady Cougars fell to tournament champion Highland Christian, 45-37.
“We strugged early with the pressure defense, but battled back and made a good run,” Murr said.
All-Tournament selection Emilee Murr led Grace with 11 points against Highland, followed by Kelly with 10. Lindsey Duke and Woodrum scored six points each, and Hannah Wynn and Harrell each added points.
Ashley Yelm led Highland with 13 points.
Against Byne, Kelly led the way with 11 points for the Lady Cougars, and Murr added 10.
