Noted host joining Flint Media

A notable Georgia sports radio personality is joining the team at Bainbridge’s Flint Media, home to three FM radio stations in Southwest Georgia.
Tommy Palmer is the host of “Countdown to Kickoff” and “The Georgia High School Scoreboard Radio Show,” both which are syndicated on radio stations throughout the state on fall Friday nights. The show’s affiliate network has 67 stations and is the second-largest in the state, behind only the Atlanta Braves radio network.
Palmer Media Group produces four programs related to prep football, and Palmer will be bringing his extensive experience and knowledge to Flint Media, General Manager Dustin Dowdy said.
Tommy Palmer is the father of Jay Palmer, an on-air personality for Flint Media’s
stations, so the company’s staff feel fortunate to be bringing him on-board, Dowdy said.
“When we were given the opportunity to merge his product with the sports programming we have, it was a no-brainer,” Dowdy said. “The credibility he brings is invaluable … we’ve got some exciting things planned for fans of high school and college sports.”
Palmer, who is re-locating from Southeast Georgia to Bainbridge, where he will now produce his shows, has been in the radio business since he was 16 years old. From 1985 to 1990, he was the owner of WBBK FM and AM in Blakely, Ga.
He has been the producer and host of The Georgia High School Scoreboard Radio Show for the past nine years, and served as its south Georgia correspondent for five years before that.
Palmer’s smooth, deep voice will be familiar to Bainbridge Bearcats fans, as he voiced the pre-game player introductions played at Centennial Field last fall.
