Kathryn Barbara Benefield Holt, 81, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on June 4, 2013 in Tampa, Fla.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 9, 2013, at Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Bainbridge, Ga. Officiating will be Father Rudy Breunig, S.T. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Climax. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
She was born in New Orleans and spent her formative years in Miami. After her husband’s retirement from the U.S. Navy, they lived in rural Climax, Ga. from 1970-1982; then their careers brought them to Tampa for the remainder of her life. She was an accomplished legal secretary until her retirement. She was a perfectionist and lover of the English language. She was an active member of and loved the water aerobics classes in South Tampa.
A loving person, she will be greatly missed by friends and family. A memorial service will be planned in Tampa.
Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made in her honor to any legitimate children’s charity.
Barbara was pre-deceased by her parents, Hartford Odell and Anna Stanley Benefield.
Mrs. Benefield is survived by her spouse of 51 years, Nathan V. Holt, brother W. Harvey Benefield of Miami and sister Claire Ball of Montgomery, Ala.; four children, Natalie Holt Cross, Timothy Holt, Nathan V. Holt Jr. and Alan Zamba. Her grandchildren include Tracy Hanley, Rebecca Griffin and Kelly Holt and one great-grandson, Sean Hanley.
