Julia Marszell Purcell, 90, of Bainbridge, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013 at her residence.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 10, 2013 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Art Bruce and Rev. Ken Cloud officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Forest Baptist Church Cemetery with Richard Barrett, Billy Seay, Josh Purcell, Jack Thain, T.J. Ellison, and Marvin Baines serving as active pallbearers. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave., 7th fl., New York, NY 10001 or First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 155, Bainbridge, GA 39818.
Mrs. Purcell was born January 8, 1923 in Hiawassee, GA, the daughter of L. Duncan Loggins and Julia Margaret Harrison Loggins. She was a graduate of Toccoa Falls Institute and was a homemaker. She was a pastor’s wife, member of First Baptist Church, was active in WMU, and many other church functions and organizations.
She was preceded in death by her siblings, Coleman Loggins, Cleo Hill, Kinney Loggins, Eleanor Baines, L. D. Loggins, Honie Loggins, Faye Loggins, Mary Lou Loggins, and Virginia Sweetser.
Survivors include her husband, Rev. Dr. Ernest S. Purcell Sr. of Bainbridge; her son, Ernest S. Purcell Jr. and his wife, Debbie, of Bainbridge; her daughter, Valerie Purcell Phillips and her husband, Eddie, of Augusta, Ga.; her siblings, Fleeta Mae Sewell of Greensboro, N.C., Gracie Lee Barrett of Stockbridge, Ga., and Ruby Lee Williams of Nashville, Tenn.; her grandchildren, Trey Purcell and his wife, Kelley, Josh Purcell and his wife, Nicole, Julia Thain, Jack Thain, T.J. Ellison, and Vince Phillips; and her great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Dixie, Yanni, Lydia, Ryker, Braiden, Noah, and Avery.
Ivey Funeral Home was in charge.
