Shirley Monk Smith, 69, of Albany, Ga., passed away on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013 at Phoebe Putney Hospital in Albany. She was born on March 16, 1944 in High Springs, Fla. to Thomas Cecil and Eloise (Goolsby) Monk.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Albany, with burial to follow at Oak City Cemetery in Bainbridge. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. until time of service.

She worked with the Dougherty County School System for many years and was also secretary for the First Baptist Church of Albany, where she was a member.

Mrs. Smith’s survivors include, her husband, Robert Smith of Albany; her daughters, Kimela Smith and her husband, Phillips, of Leesburg, Ga. and Paula Smith and her husband Larry Norland of Cary, N.C.; her grandchildren, Bryce Sidders, Clayton Phillips, Elizabeth Norland, Caroline Norland, and Davis Norland; and her brother, Tommy Monk of Bainbridge.
