Miss Whitaker to wed Dr. Black

Ms. Kaye Whitaker of Calhoun, Ga., is pleased to announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of her daughter, Miss Emily Meghan Whitaker to Dr. Gary Chase Black. Miss Whitaker is the daughter of the late Mr. Raymond Whitaker, formerly of Bainbridge.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ferris Sandlin of Brinson, Ga., of Ms. Ruby Jewel Whitaker and of the late Mr. Otis Whitaker of Donalsonville.
Miss Whitaker is a 2006 honor graduate of Bainbridge High School and attended Georgia Southern University, where she graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2010. She is currently enrolled at Georgetown University where she is pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing with an emphasis on family practice.
The groom-to-be is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Black of Calhoun, Ga., the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hughes, formerly of Waynesboro, Va., and of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Black, formerly of Summerville, Ga.
Dr. Black is a 2004 honor graduate of Calhoun High School. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Georgia in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. He graduated from The Medical College of Georgia in 2012 with a doctoral degree in medicine.
He is currently employed as a resident physician at The Medical University of South Carolina by the Department of Anesthesia and Perioperative Medicine.
The wedding is planned for October 19, 2013 at the Legare Waring House at Charles Towne Landing in Charleston, S.C. at 6:30 p.m., with the reception to immediately follow.
