Mrs. Helen Kirkland Kelly, age 76, passed away Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at her home in Bainbridge, Ga. Services for Mrs. Kelly were held at 2 p.m., Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at Cox Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends prior to the service.
Helen Julia Kirkland was born Jan. 7, 1937 in Bainbridge, to Leroy Kirkland and Hortence Griner Kirkland. She married Phillip Frederick Kelly on Aug. 11, 1956. Helen was a member of Calvary Assembly of God Church. Mrs. Kelly worked for years as a medical clerk at Bainbridge Memorial Hospital and Manor.
Helen Kelly is survived by her husband of 57 years, Phillip F. Kelly and son, Phillip E. Kelly and wife, DeChelle, all of Bainbridge. Other susrvivors are her brothers and sisters, Patricia K. Thursby of Donalsonville, Hilda K. Warriner and husband, J.W. of Donalsonville, William Kirkland of Brinson, Stanley Kirkland of Brinson, Hiram Kirkland and wife, Dana of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Geneva K. Middleton of Albany, Ga.; stepsisters and stepbrother, Nora Day, Joy Cook, and Larry Harrell, all of Bainbridge. Her grandchildren are Tyler, Kyle, and Amy Kelly, Patrick and Sarah Chester, all of Tallahassee, Fla.; great grandchild, Kristopher Chester of Tallahassee.
Cox Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
