Support local scholarship opportunities as well as local tradition by going to Dairy Queen on Shotwell Street on Tuesday, Oct. 15 where all proceeds from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. will go towards the Dylan Reid Faircloth Scholarship Fund.
Faircloth’s life came to a tragic end in 2009 when he was in an automobile accident when his car left the side of the road late one night on his way home from church camp. But even in the 18-year-olds death his life touched other people.
As an organ donor Faircloth’s young heart was given to Stan Gann, a 70-year-old former Georgia Tech quarterback.
Today Faircloth’s heart lives on in Gann but his legacy lives on in Bainbridge and is celebrated each year at the Epic 5k in October. The race also raises funds for the scholarship which is given to a cross country runner each year. Tuesday’s Dairy Queen proceeds will go towards the same cause — keeping Faircloth’s legacy alive.
