The Climax School reunion was held Saturday, April 12, at the Climax Baptist Church fellowship hall. Lunch was served promptly at noon with the program following.
Master of Ceremony, class of 1950 Wayne Dollar, was not in attendance due to sickness in his family. In his absence Mildred Salter McNair, Class of 1946, was Mistress of Ceremony.
Edward Crump, Class of 1965, again provided an entertaining slide show of all old happenings at Climax School, and asked if anyone still had any old pictures to share and he would gladly make a copy for the show and return the originals immediately.
The oldest student present was Annie Mae Jones Perkins, Class of 1939; representing the Class of 1940 was Jack Jones; Class of 1941 was Marjorie Harrell Grover, and Ed Perry; Class of 1942 was Wynell McNair Fewell; and Lois Martin Simms Class of 1943.
Winning the Climax School quilt that was handmade by Edward Crump was Janice Phillips Bailey Class of 1967. Janice said she almost didn’t come this year and then decided at the last minute to come and paid for her meal at the door.
The quilt is orange and green which were the school’s colors.
Mildred McNair, Class of 1946 said all students attending expressed how much they appreciated the work done by the committee and all had a wonderful time reminiscing about times gone by. Everyone left making plans to return again next year.
