Young Bainbridge swimmers give impressive performance at final meet of the season

Coach Heather Battenberg’s Bainbridge Barracudas swim team turned in strong efforts Saturday in the Marianna Florida Invitational Meet, their final competition of the summer season.
In individual events and relays, the Barracudas captured 50 first place trophies, 26 second place medals and 17 third through ninth place ribbons. The Barracudas’ Ava Bennett and Allee Dickson tied for first in the 7-and-8-year old girls division and Dawson Cottles won the 7-and-8-year-old boys division.
The Barracudas dominated the 9-and-10 year old girls division and the 9-and-10 year old boys division.
In the girls division, Ramsey Mathews finished first, Ali Bennett finished second and Christie Whitaker finished third and Dax Willis won the boys division.
Brooklyn Willis and Karil Willis finished first and second in the 11-and-12 year old girls division. Thad Whitaker was second in the 13-and12-year old boys division and Haley Helms was second in the 15-to-18 year old girls division.
YMCA aquatics coordinator Jennifer Clements, who assists coach Battenberg, said she could not be prouder of the coach and her swimmers this season and her swimmers this season.
“Coach Battenberg and all of our swimmers were really dedicated and had a great work ethic,” the aquatics director said. “I could not be more proud of them.”
