Lady Cats drop close game to Lady Yellow Jackets on the road

The Bainbridge High School Lady Cats softball team dropped a close 10-7 Region 1-AAAA decision to the Thomas County Central High School Lady Yellow Jackets Thursday on the road.
The Lady Cats are 5-5 overall and 3-2 in region play. Leading the offense for the Lady Cats was Mabry-Grace Briggs, who went 2-for-4, drove in a run and scored two runs. She singled in the third inning and doubled in the seventh inning.
Abby Gardner got an RBI single in the fourth. Lady Cats coach Chris Bryant said his team took an early lead and held it for several innings.
The Lady Yellow Jackets took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning. Winning pitcher Larran Carter singled to begin the rally and Kenlie Harvey tripled driving her in.
Lady Cats losing pitcher Abigail Gardner allowed 10 runs in six innings. She walked two and struck out two.
The Lady Cats had two run rallies in the top of the fourth and top of the seventh Abby Gardner singled in Tykira Adams in the fourth.
Coach Bryant liked his team’s effort against the Lady Yellow Jackets, who are currently leading Region 1-AAAA.
“Central and Worth County are both ahead of us right now, but we are improving with every game,” coach Bryant said. “I am proud of all the young ladies.”
